Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser

An impulse purchase from a brand I'd wanted to try for a while. It was a toss up between this and the Rosehip Cleanser but frankly, I don't seem to have much luck with Rosehip on my face so I went with the Brightening Cleanser. And I'm kind of into orange at the moment.

I don't like to overload my skin. In the morning I usually cleanse, acid tone (sometimes) and moisturise. I sometimes use a Vitamin C serum if I have one. If I do too much my skin gets cross and then I have to wear more make-up when I actually want my skin to be good enough to wear less. Are you keeping up? I've been after a good, fairly basic, easy to use cleanser for the morning for a while - one that would play nicely with my other products. This does just that.

Brightening cleansers are appealing to me as they seem to offer two things at once - a clean skin and a brighter complexion meaning I put fewer products on my skin which is a win. I do use acid toners but not everyday, again I use them as and when I need them. I also don't use this everyday. Because my skin can be sensitive and dry I tend to see what it needs when I wake up. It also depends what I've been using the night before. It's sounds more complicated then it is.

This cleanser is really nice. I slap it on my dry face and it sort of froths a bit without being too foamy and then I wash it off with my warm flannel. This is not how you are supposed to use it. You are supposed to apply it to a wet face but I only remember this about 20% of the time. It seems to work just fine on dry skin too. It definitely removes all residual make-up and though I can't really notice if my skin is looking brighter it's definitely not looking dull, which it can tend to do. If I use this in the evening it would be as a second cleanse but with my aforementioned dry skin I prefer to use something more greasy in the evening.

It smells of strawberries - this is artificial but not offensive. It causes some tightness on the lower part of my face but this isn't a problem and I make sure I use quite a full-on moisturiser afterwards. Now, because this is brightening I don't usually use an acid tone after this but if I do it doesn't cause any sensitivity (sometimes if I use glycolic pads after certain cleansers my skin is unimpressed).

I really like the ethics of Indie Lee as a brand. Did this cleanser revolutionise my skincare routine? No but I do really like it and the sustainability and cruetly-free element me I will be looking to try more from this brand in the future.
