Jo Loves Pink Vetiver

Jo Loves Shop FrontJo Malone is a household name. Everyone has their favourite (Lime Basil & Mandarin since you ask) and for some of us it's the ultimate house gift. However, not so many people know that Jo Malone (MBE) left the eponymous brand in 2006 and 2011 after trouncing a particularly aggressive form of cancer came back with a new company Jo Loves.

As a brand Jo Malone, now owned by Estee Lauder, is huge and available worldwide - everything about it, even the black framed cream packaging is luxurious. Jo Loves feels different. Of course it's on a smaller scale, it's a relativley new company created by someone who has her name on products she created, in a design she wanted but is no longer affiliated to. That must be incredibly difficult. You need to it look different, you need to come up with a whole different range of fragrances and ideas. And she's done it. Jo Loves feels intimate, personal, boutique. She seems to be able to create the most amazing and unique smells and Jo Loves doesn't disappoint. Pomelo, Mandarine, Mango Thai Lime, White Rose and Lemon Leaves or my favourite, Green Orange and Coriander.

Pink Vetiver from Jo LovesI was lucky enough to go and have a consultation with her team in her gorgeous shop on Elizabeth Street, London. On a side note it's worth going there if you can - it is a beautiful flower-filled haven based in the flower shop Jo worked at when she left school (hence the fragrance No 42 The Flower Shop). Not only are there incredible new scents but amazing, innovative ideas. Shot candles where you create your own bespoke candle by choosing two different fragrances, one base and one shot. Fragrance paintbrushes - your favourite scent in a gel form in a handy paintbrush to take with you anywhere. Or go into the store to have the Fragrance Tapas experience which you can see in action here.

There's no denying Jo's unique talent for putting fragrances together I loved the unusual Pink Vetiver and was lucky to be given some which I gave to my mother to wear. She not only loves vetiver which is particularly hard to find it seems, but she can wear perfumes I just can't carry off (Rive Gauche in particular), I knew Pink Vetiver was the one for her.  It smells incredible. Vetiver, pink crushed peppercorns, cardamom and cumin - this is perfect for those who prefer a clean, spicy, slightly masculine fragrance. My mother wears it in the summer and it's just beautiful. It really lasts on the skin and she gets complimented on it all the time.
